Pics from the Private View

Monday, January 21, 2008

The Private View on Saturday went well. Very well, I think.

Jo and Joesto helped me to set it all up in the afternoon and they did a great job for me ... much better than I could have done on my own.

Beth Giles (the gallery owner) was very accomodating making the whole thing hassle free. She's also handling the sales for me.

I guess about 40 people came ... and their encouragement and support means so much to me. Thanks to each one of them. It was great to have so many old and new friends there as well as family. Some people came from far far away ... how lovely is that?!

I sold a few pictures, which is also great, and had some good conversations about them. I'm not being funny or anything, but some people are suprisingly switched on about art and asked some brilliant questions and gave me some excellent feedback.

The exhibition will run for 2 weeks so if you're in the area, please drop in ... and give me a call if you are and maybe I can meet you there.

What's Next?

Next is a 3-day Craft event at the Red Dragon Centre in Cardiff Bay. It kicks off on Friday (lunchtime) and runs through to Sunday. The Centre is a great place to visit so come down and see us.

My exhibition opens on Saturday. Just hope I'm ready in time! Things still to do and I've been tired and nervous.

A good friend of mine sent me an email and suggested three goals:

"inspire some people, sell some pieces, expand your network"

That's the plan then.

I also have a new goal arising out of all this that I'm thinking about ... but more of that later. Being an ideas person, but sometimes poor on execution, I'm waiting to see if this one sticks with me. Hope it does.

Lots of people have said they're coming on Saturday and I so much appreciate the support.
The following week I'm at a 3 day craft show in Cardiff Bay, and I've also lined up another show for the beginning of March entitled "Walking On Water", showing my latest painting and drawings.
I spent time with a counsellor once who said I needed to show up both physically and emotionally. We'll see how that goes!

I'll let you know how it goes.

Images of Earth And Spirit
A series of pictures by Peter Birch

An exhibition at the Beth Giles Gallery in Pontyclun from 20th January 2008 for 2 weeks.
Private View 19th January 7.00 - 9.00pm

These original paintings explore the hidden energy of the natural world.
They look behind the scenes; they split things open; they focus in on the detail. They portray randomness and selection, excitement and energy, chaos and order. Things that are familiar become abstract. Images and impressions are combined with a mixture of colours, textures, shapes and symbols.
Sometimes it’s in the detail that the whole is seen more clearly and more deeply.
These unique pictures represent a different way of looking at things.

Please come along to the Private View, it would be a pleasure to see you there.
